Rick Miller is Interm Chief Development Officer at Swift Current Energy, where he is responsible for leading all aspects of the company’s wind and solar development and construction activities across North America. In this role, he oversees projects from acquisition through commercial operation, drawing on nearly 20 years of experience in renewable energy project development. His expertise spans the full project lifecycle, from early-stage origination through permitting, financing, and construction. Rick has a proven track record of developing large portfolios of generation assets and successfully advancing them to commercial operation. He is passionate about accelerating a rapid, equitable, and sustainable energy transition.
Before joining Swift Current Energy, Rick served as Senior Director at EDF Renewables, where he led the permitting of more than 5 GW of renewable energy projects and oversaw the development of more than 1.6 GW of operational wind, solar, and energy storage projects across the western United States.
Rick earned a Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources Planning from California State Polytechnic University, Humboldt. He began his career as a land-use planner, earning certification from the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) before becoming a member of the inaugural class of Certified Environmental Planners (CEP).
