Joey Shannon serves as a Senior Director of Development at Swift Current Energy, bringing over a decade of experience in the utility-scale power industry to the team.
Before joining Swift Current, Joey led the renewables development team at Talen Energy. His skill sets span the entire project lifecycle, from initial site identification through financing and into commercial operation. Prior to his time at Talen, Joey held key leadership positions at Calpine and NRG Energy, primarily focusing on project development and asset management functions. He has directly managed or monetized over 3GW of renewable energy projects across multiple ISOs. Early in his career, Joey served as a Systems Engineer with Southern Company in their nuclear power division at the Vogtle Electric Generating Station.
Joey holds an MBA with concentrations in Finance and Alternative Investments from Emory University’s Goizueta Business School and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
