Swift Current Energy Welcomes Phillip Westerby as Chief of Project Execution

Industry executive Phillip Westerby will lead the transition of Swift Current Energy’s late-stage development projects through to operation

BOSTON and HOUSTON, August 24, 2022 – Swift Current Energy (Swift Current), a leading North American clean energy platform, is pleased to announce that Phillip Westerby has joined the company as Chief of Project Execution. In this newly created role, Phillip leads the transition of Swift Current’s late-stage development projects through engineering, pre-construction, procurement, construction, and handover to asset management. Phillip is based at the company’s Houston office. 

This year Swift Current will start construction on over 1,000 MWac of wind and solar energy projects. Earlier this month, the City of Chicago announced an agreement with retail electricity supplier Constellation, in collaboration with Swift Current, to source renewable energy from Swift Current Energy’s 593 MWac Double Black Diamond Project in Sangamon and Morgan Counties, Illinois. In January, Swift Current shared that it has placed an order for 1,200 MW of First Solar modules, as well as wind turbines for its 196 MW Castle Gap Wind Project in central Texas.

Phillip is an accomplished executive with more than 25 years of experience in energy and project management and execution. Phillip grew his career in renewable energy at EDPR NA, LLC, where he rose to become Executive Vice President of Technical. At EDP, he oversaw the successful development and execution of more than 10 GW of utility-scale wind, solar, and energy storage projects across the United States, Mexico and Canada. Throughout his 13 years at EDPR, Phillip was involved in all aspects of development, engineering, technology due diligence, financing, procurement, and construction.
