Accountant / Senior Accountant

Swift Current Energy, a renewable energy project developer, owner and operator (the “Company”) is seeking an Accountant / Senior Accountant to support a broad range of accounting activities. The Company has primary offices in Boston MA, Houston TX, and Yarmouth ME; this role may be based in Boston or Yarmouth, though remote candidates in the greater New England region may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Job Scope:

The primary responsibilities of the Accountant / Senior Accountant include the following:

  • Provide accurate and timely support of the monthly, quarterly and annual closing and reporting processes.
  • Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and adjustments in Netsuite.
  • Conduct detailed analyses and reconciliations of key accounts, including balance sheet reconciliations and variance analyses, ensuring their accuracy and prompt completion. Investigate and rectify variances when necessary.
  • Collaborate with project controller and accounts payable to review customer invoices and vendor bills to ensure completeness and accurate GL coding.
  • Review accounting coding of employee expense reports and submit for processing.
  • Ensure compliance with controls, corporate policies, and statutory requirements.
  • Engage in financial reporting, consolidations, financial results analysis, and report documentation.
  • Provide support to external auditors as required, including assembling year-end audit materials.
  • Participate in the preparation of financial statements and other compliance reporting.
  • Collaborate across various internal teams and functions to coordinate on accounting matters.
  • Contribute to process improvements.
  • Perform ad hoc tasks as required or requested by members of the Finance & Accounting teams.

The expected travel for this position is less than 10%, with the potential for periodic travel to the Company’s offices and project sites. Job responsibilities may evolve based on Company needs and individual career growth. This role reports to the Controller.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Accounting or Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in Accounting-focused roles is required.
  • Prior experience working in renewables, utilities, the broader energy sector or construction is strongly preferred; public accounting experience is desirable but not required.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is a plus.
  • Strong computer skills, including exceptional proficiency in Excel required. Prior experience with NetSuite preferred.
  • Current authorization to live and work in the U.S.
