Massive solar farm spanning Morgan, Sangamon celebrated

AUBURN — Officials from across Illinois are celebrating the completion of an enormous solar panel farm built in west-central Illinois.

Boston-based energy company Swift Current Energy held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday at its Auburn office for the Double Black Diamond solar panel farm. Built outside of Virden and Waverly, the solar farm straddles Morgan and Sangamon counties and is the largest solar project east of the Mississippi River, according to the company.
