Swift Current Energy, a renewable energy project developer, owner, and operator (the “Company”), is seeking a Senior Manager of Technical Accounting to oversee technical accounting, policy, research and reporting matters across the Company. Swift Current has primary offices in Boston MA, Yarmouth ME, and Houston TX; this role may be based in any of these locations, with a preference for the Boston or Yarmouth locations. Remote working arrangements may also be considered for strong candidates.

Job Scope:
The primary responsibilities of the Senior Manager, Technical Accounting include the following:
- Oversee all technical accounting, policy, research and reporting matters for the Company.
- Lead the research, evaluation, interpretation, and documentation of accounting policies and procedures.
- Apply technical accounting standards and analysis to complex business transactions and practices.
- Lend expertise to daily accounting questions, such as non-standard journal entries, derivative accounting, lease accounting, etc.
- Respond to technical accounting inquiries from external and internal parties and communicate technical accounting matters and concepts to all levels and audiences within the organization.
- Research and monitor accounting standards and reporting practices to provide proactive guidance, update policies and standards, and ensure implementation and documentation related to changes in estimates.
- Partner with colleagues and stakeholders across the accounting organization to implement new accounting standards or changes in accounting policies.
- Develop communication and provide training on technical matters to ensure adherence to Company policies and standards.
- Support the relationship with external auditors on technical accounting topics as needed.
- Ad hoc tasks as required from time to time.
Job responsibilities may evolve based on Company needs and individual career growth. This role reports to the Chief Accounting Officer.
Qualifications:
- Five-plus years of professional experience in technical accounting-focused roles.
- Accounting and/or audit experience gained in a top-tier, global accounting firm is preferred.
- In-house accounting function experience is not required but is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare technical accounting memos and documents.
- Experience with partnership accounting and HLBV, asset acquisitions, business combinations, and other complex transactions.
- Industry experience in power generation / utilities is preferred; renewable energy experience is highly desirable.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or related field.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred.
- Current authorization to live and work in the U.S.
