Job Scope:
The Project Manager (“PM”) will serve as a key point of contact and subject matter expert for a rolling portfolio of renewable energy projects as they progress through the construction phase. In particular, the PM assists in the development of strategic project objectives and provides tactical oversight for projects from late-stage development through the final construction phase, ensuring projects are successfully completed on time, within budget, and with safety and quality as key priorities.
The primary responsibilities of the Project Manager include the following:
- Provide project leadership during construction activities, ensuring safety, quality, schedule, cost, environmental, landowner, and other project requirements are met or exceeded.
- Collaborate with Project & Business Development and Pre-Construction to support construction due diligence, including constructability reviews, risk analyses, developing project schedules, and reviewing budgets and capex estimates.
- Support the Pre-Construction Department by actively participating in the contracting RFP process for assigned projects through contract execution.
- Fully understand and manage all aspects of project contracts (EPC, BOP, TSA & PSA); hold contractors and suppliers accountable to perform at the highest level to ensure projects are completed on time and under budget.
- Consolidate and analyze budgets, costs, forecasts, and utilization against established financial goals.
- Support the development and implementation of a project execution plan that is formally communicated to all project stakeholders.
- Assist in planning and hiring competent field staff in order to ensure adequate resources are in place for effective and timely execution of committed projects.
- Develop key site personnel for leadership roles and push employee decision making down to the appropriate level. Institute a culture of ownership and accountability by giving employees the training necessary to feel empowered to make decisions and hold them accountable to do so.
- Ensure project communications, issues, change orders, and quality matters are well documented through adequate staffing and training around policies and procedures.
- Effectively communicate relevant information to colleagues at all levels of the organization, including the executive team.
- Develop effective relationships with internal departments, contractors, suppliers, landowners, and other stakeholders.
- Reinforce a team approach throughout the enterprise, both on projects and internal initiatives.
- Understand the implications of variance technical options and guide engineering designs to achieve the best solution for each situation.
- Participate in a formal turnover and acceptance of the project from Pre-Construction to Construction execution and eventual turnover to Asset Management.
- Champion change and effectively manage the implementation of new ideas, processes, tools, etc.
- Ad hoc tasks as required from time to time
The expected travel for this position is approximately 50% or as needed based upon project requirements. Job responsibilities may evolve based on Company needs and individual career growth. This role reports to the Senior Project Manager.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Engineering, Construction Management, Technology, Business) or equivalent years of experience in construction, project planning and execution of large utility-scale, power plant projects.
- 3-5 years of experience in the renewable energy sector or industrial construction or capital project management.
- Advanced knowledge of the following: construction management and constructing methods for large projects; contract management; procurement and supply chain management; environmental and building permitting; and transportation logistics.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and processes, with an ability to effectively communicate such information when necessary.
- Proficient in the use of various software tools, including Microsoft products (Word, Project, Excel), Bluebeam, GIS tools/software, AutoCAD, drawing interpretation and other discipline-relevant software.
- Current authorization to live and work in the U.S.
